Robaxin (methocarbamol) is a centrally acting muscle relaxant and the maximum daily dose is dependent on the indication it is being used for.
Muscle Spasm
For adults and adolescents over 16 years old, the maximum daily dose is 8 grams per day in divided doses. In most cases however, 4 to 4.5 grams in divided doses in the typical dosage range for maintenance therapy.
Treatment of Tetanus
Treatment of tetanus is generally initiated via IV dosing with usual maintenance doses of 1 to 3 grams every 6 hours. In some cases, a maximum daily dose of 24 grams is needed.
Robaxin Maximum Daily Dose
Per the manufacturer, the maximum daily doses per indication are as follows:
- 8 grams per day by mouth for muscle spasm
- 12 grams per day via IV for muscle spasm
- 3 grams per day via intramuscular injection for muscle spasm
- 24 grams per day for tetanus
