Can I take Flonase nasal spray with methylprednisolone 4mg?

Answer

Hand holding nasal sprayYes, it is safe to use Flonase nasal spray while taking Medrol (methylprednisolone) 4mg.

Although both drugs are classified as "steroids", Flonase has minimal systemic absorption when administered nasally. The bioavailability, or the amount of drug absorbed and entering circulation, is less than 1-2% according to the prescribing information for Flonase and is therefore thought to have minimal impact except for the local effects exerted on the nasal passages.

Flonase should generally be used consistently versus on an as needed basis. While it may provide intermittent relief if used once in awhile, the best effects occur when it is used on a consistent basis. You can feel safe knowing there is no drug interaction between Flonase and Medrol.
