Can I take Prilosec and Monistat 3 together?

Answer

There are no reported or documented interactions between Prilosec (omeprazole) and Monistat (miconazole).

Prilosec

Prilosec is an over the counter medications used to treat heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and ulcers. It is classified as a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme "pump" on of parietal cells in the stomach, suppressing gastric acid secretion.

Prilosec is most often dosed once daily and typically well tolerated. Each dose should be taken at least 60 minutes before meals.

Monistat

Monistat (miconazole) is an anti-fungal, most commonly used topically for vaginal fungal infection. Monistat comes in a variety of dosages, with treatment durations of 1 day, 3 days and 7 days. As miconazole is dosed topically, there is minimal systemic absorption and has few drug interactions when used this way.
