There is no known interaction between gabapentin and levofloxacin. It would be considered reasonable to take gabapentin with levofloxacin. Below you can find additional information regarding each medication.

Gabapentin

Neurontin (gabapentin) is an analgesic and anti-epileptic medication that has many uses, but is commonly used to relieve neuropathic pain and prevent seizures. Gabapentin can be taken with or without food. You should not stop taking gabapentin unless instructed by your doctor according to a tapering schedule. Gabapentin may alter your mood or disposition, which is why you and family should monitor for depression or behavior changes. 

Common side effects include:

  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Headache
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Weight gain
  • Abnormal thinking
  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness
  • Dry mouth
Levofloxacin

Levaquin (levofloxacin) is a flouroquinolone antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. Levofloxacin is not considered a first line antibiotic and is only used to treat infections that cannot be treated with safer antibiotics. Take levofloxacin tablets with or without food with plenty of water. If taking levofloxacin oral solution take on an empty stomach 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Do not take vitamins or supplements within 2 hours of taking levofloxacin. Avoid exposure to sunlight, as levofloxacin may increase the risk of sunburn.

  • Headache
