Claritin and Zarbee's cough syrup are safe to take together. There is no interaction between the two medications.

Claritin (Loratadine)

Claritin is a second-generation antihistamine, used for both for the treatment and prevention of seasonal allergy symptoms. Second-generation antihistamines are noted for their long duration of action and their general lack of sedative effects. Claritin specifically will last around 24 hours per dose and is non-drowsy.

Zarbee's Cough Nighttime

Zarbee's makes a variety of natural products to help with cough/cold symptoms. The children's nighttime cough syrup contains the following ingredients:

  • Dark honey
  • Melatonin
  • Grapefruit seed extract

Dark honey may help reduce cough and throat irritation. It is a common ingredient in natural medications such as cough syrups and cough drops.

Melatonin is a hormone used to treat insomnia.

Grape seed extract has a variety of uses and is generally thought to help increase absorption of various vitamins and minerals.

None of the above ingredient has any listed or reported interactions with Claritin.

  • There are no reported interactions between Claritin (loratadine) and Zarbee's Cough Nighttime. They are considered safe to take together.
