Can the rx cough med Bromfed DM be taken right after a duoneb breathing treatment delivered via nebulizer?

Yes, Bromfed DM can safely be taken after Duoneb. There is no interaction between the two drugs.
Bromfed DM is a combination ingredient cough medication that contains:
- Brompheniramine
- Dextromethorphan
- Pseudoephedrine
Bromfed DM is used to treat upper respiratory congestion and to relieve coughing. Brompheniramine is a first-generation sedating antihistamine (H1-blocker), similar to Benadryl, although it has a longer duration of action. It works to dry the nasal and sinus passages. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant while pseudoephedrine causes vasoconstriction, reducing nasal congestion and opens the airways.
Duoneb is a combination of albuterol and ipratropium. Albuterol is a fast acting beta agonist, which relaxes the muscles in the airways, making it easier to breath. Ipratropium is classified as an "anticholinergic" and helps to dry secretions in the airways for the treatment of COPD.
Brompheniramine, the antihistamine in Bromfed DM, has anticholinergic effects. While there is no drug-drug interaction between Duoneb and Bromfed DM, there is a slight risk of excess dry mouth and dry eyes when using both together due to the additive anticholinergic effects. This isn't thought to be significant though.
