Elise asked

I received a paper prescription for Wellbutrin, Seroquel, and Topamax. They are all on the same paper. But under the Wellbutrin, the doctor wrote “May fill on May 21.” Does that mean that the other two prescriptions on that paper must wait to be filled on that day as well, or does that just apply to the Wellbutrin?

Answer

This is a case where you should reach out to your pharmacist or doctor and get clarification.

Not only are laws different by state in regard to multiple drugs on one prescription, there are different laws in regard to written "fill-by" dates and the doctors intentions seem ambiguous. Your local pharmacist will certainly be able to give you a better answer as they know the state laws and can easily reach your doctor for clarification if needed.

In most cases, the pharmacist just needs to call and document what the doctor wants the pharmacist to do.
