Do You Need To Moisten Flagystatin?

I am currently using flagystatin vaginal ovules to treat bacterial vaginosis, I forgot to moisten the ovule before insertion, will this dose still be effective?

Yes, your medication should still be effective if you forgot to moisten the ovule.


Moistening flagystatin is recommended for two reasons:

  • Ease of administration
  • Facilitate dissolving of the medication


Moistening the medication makes it easier to insert by reducing friction when inserting deep into the vagina. Additionally, moisture helps to reduce discomfort and hasten how quickly the medication dissolves. If you forget to moisten the ovule, it may just take a little longer to dissolve, potentially increasing discomfort. It should not influence the overall effect of the medication.
